Summary:
Provide expertise to clients in the area of storage software and storage technologies as well as developing closer and deeper tracking of both major and emerging vendors in the storage software market. This analyst position includes the following specific tasks: Prepare thought-leading, actionable written research, working in a peer review structure.

Responsibilities:
* Support inquiries from clients.
* Speak at Gartner or other conferences as a subject-matter expert on Storage Software and related topics e.g. with a particular focus on storage management
* Be good at analysis - seeking out and piecing together fragments of information, extrapolating, building and applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns and drawing conclusions from partial data
* Attend vendor briefings, vendor events, meetings with clients or exhibitions as required to further research.
* Assist other parts of Gartner when required, for example: sales support; support to Gartners separate consulting division.
* Travel as required.
* Flexibility to cover different areas of IT Infrastructure and Operations according to the demands of the business Qualifications: * 7-10 years experience working within IT Operations or Storage Management
* Degree-level education
* Significant applicable experience to be knowledgeable about the topic area and be accepted by clients as an expert. This entails a deep understanding of Storage industry trends, vendors, products, user strategies and impact of adjacent disciplines.
* Relevant background in Storage Management as an analyst, vendor or user
* Excellent communicator; able to explain concepts concisely and simply through discussion, presentation and written research
