Overview
Landacorp, a SHPS company, is hiring a Release Engineer in Chico, CA. This position requires an individual with strong attention to detail to be responsible for engineering software products packaging for end user deployment. Requires knowledge of installation software, Oracle SQL and Oracle PL-SQL, TCL, cron jobs, Unix shell scripting, and CGI scripting. Requires a strong understanding of software development life cycle and programming concepts. The ability to concentrate for long periods of time is necessary. Must be able to switch from one assignment to another quickly, and without risking performance. Will work with both technical staff and customers
Job Skills/RequirementsSupport the product development process by working closely with software developers to analyze, clarify details and implement schema and system data requests. Maintain and perform maintenance processes on the development database environment, using manual data and schema manipulation procedures as necessary to meet project timelines. Develop application issue resolution scripts after analyzing requirements.
Research, design and develop tools to facilitate customer software upgrades, and for Landacorp products that use new technologies. Develop clearly understood process documents for these new products.
Develop scripts to automate repetitive tasks such as generating DDL and processing large text files.
Provide product conversion project plans, and conversion and upgrade support to the QA department, and for customers as needed, acting as an internal technical support representative from the Development department for all release deliverables.
Perform minor Oracle DBA tasks such as creating users, importing schemas and modifying storage parameters, and cron job editing. Assist DBAs by trouble-shooting and analyzing database issues at sites. Perform database schema copy and comparison functions, and maintain tools used to do so.
Work directly with customers to analyze requirements, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for the development of custom scripts to map data or edit data for special application. Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Maintain system datasets, schema notation, ER diagrams and supporting documents to assist in the development process.
Maintain internal web forms to assist in product development and release process, and for internal reporting on employee time keeping.
Provide administrative technical support for proprietary software application used for employee time keeping and tasks, site contact information and issues, and product tasks.
Provide precise schema mapping information to technical writers. Write clear, concise technical documentation to describe software upgrade operation and tools for customers.
Must be able to read and understand highly technical documents developed by software programmers and other technicians.
Maintain HTML and java script web site for company's division, working closely with Marketing & Communication Specialist.

Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Science, or other related field.
Great attention to detail and able to produce work with a very low error rate.
Understanding of programming and software development concepts.
Proficiency in one or more of the following desired: SQL, TCL, PL/SQL, and Unix shell scripting.
