JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Due to recent growth & expansion, we are seeking 2 Regulatory Scientists.

The Regulatory Scientist is responsible for the regulatory compliance aspects of ingredients and products. For ingredients, this involves review of the composition, allergens, nutrition information and compliance with FDA regulations. For products, this includes development of ingredient statements, creation of Nutrition Facts panels, validation of nutrition and ingredient claims, calculation of diet exchanges, flavor labeling, package label graphics review, etc. Data for ingredients and products should be managed via a Nutrition & Regulatory database system. Job duties include:

Nutrition Applications & Regulatory:

Assure compliance with and advise the business on nutrition and regulatory requirements as well as applicable Ralcorp standards and policies. Develop and execute the technical information in package labeling, advertising, and other marketing materials in support of both internal and external communication to customers and consumers. Proactively influence nutrition and health related claims development and product positioning by levering nutrition and regulatory expertise in development and implementation of concepts packaging, and advertising. Communicate relevant government changes on food labeling and regulations, maintaining USDA and FDA documentation and managing internal databases. Manage the Nutrition & Regulatory software for inputs (raw materials nutrition facts, codes, formulation development) and outputs (formulas, labels, regulatory, claims). Administer the formulas and labels for issuance, archiving, and security. Provide access to formulas and labels as appropriate to the business and security needs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

B.S. degree in Nutrition, Food Science or related combination of technical degrees and Food Regulatory experience. Experience in the food industry strongly preferred Demonstrated expertise in FDA regulations for food labeling and nutrition and health claims Strong knowledge of nutrition/labeling databases Detail oriented Strong organizational skills Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to stay current on regulatory changes
