SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The RVP will oversee 9 districts in Oregon and Washington that currently encompass 110 KinderCare and Knowledge Beginnings centers, generating annual revenues of approximately $100M. This is a proactive executive role, accountable for achieving results through others via active leadership. The RVP holds primary responsibility for staying abreast of market developments, identifying business opportunities, driving sales and profitability, implementing new programs and growing enrollments through new centers and organic growth in existing centers. This role is focally involved in ensuring that our centers provide quality learning and care environments, outstanding customer service, talent development and succession planning, while meeting all fiscal, regulatory and management objectives.
The RVP is further responsible for developing and implementing strategies focused on company initiatives. He/she will set challenging goals and hold District Managers accountable for consistently meeting objectives. Through this individual, the DMs are provided with vision and leadership, with particular emphasis on developing bench strength, as they are focused on employee development and performance improvement. The RVP will develop initiatives designed to increase acquisition and retention of customers, and leads DMs in effective implementation of those initiatives. Additionally, the incumbent will collaborate and cooperate with the Regional Director of Operations and other RVPs to advance company initiatives and share best practices, while holding the DMs accountable for overseeing all operational aspects of delivering quality childcare and education, in compliance with all local, state and federal requirements.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develops operational plans to accomplish company strategic initiatives. Current initiatives include: improving customer retention through delivering improved customer service and increasing enrollment by delivering quality child care and education. Leads DMs in implementing initiatives focused on improving customer acquisition and retention.
· Accepts development of DMs as a major focus of the position. Assures appropriate bench strength through training, coaching and skills development. Sets clear expectations and holds DMs accountable. Develops exit strategies when appropriate. Coaches DMs to focus on bench strength in the same manner.
· Enforces quality standards, providing assessment and support of quality learning environments for children and work environments for staff.
· Manages Company profitability by holding field leadership team accountable for revenue growth and expense control as well as focusing specifically on challenging issues such as labor cost and collection of receivables.
· Works cooperatively with all corporate offices and staff to implement company strategies, policy and procedures to build and maintain a culture that will attract the right kind of employee while supporting the economics of this industry.
· Ensures clear, consistent and regular communications to field personnel, recognizing the challenges inherent in a distributed workplace.
· Participates in evaluation of marketplace conditions in order to rationalize use of resources. This includes identifying opportunities for opening new centers, developing new markets, and closing low performing centers.
· Holds DMs accountable for delivering quality programs in full compliance with all federal, state and company policies and regulations.
· Remains abreast of national and professional trends and standards for delivering high quality children’s educational programs.
· Supports Company values through all actions and communications.
· Supervises 10 to 15 District Managers and one Regional Director of Operations. Travels extensively to view markets and visit centers throughout the region on a regular basis. Works with field leaders in analyzing market information reports and developing and executing strategic market plans.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· A minimum of 5 to 10 years experience in P&L management at an executive level in a large, multi-unit environment. This should include a successful track record in revenue and sales growth, profitability, cost control and DOI contribution.
· Proven capability in selecting, hiring, developing and retaining top talent, including effective succession planning.
· Experience in a regulatory environment with an understanding of state compliance issues with multi-state responsibility
· Service industry experience required.
· Direct experience in the Childcare and/or Education industry is strongly preferred
· As would be expected for an executive position, exemplary written and verbal communications, interpersonal, leadership and financial management skills.

TRAVEL:
Frequent travel is required – 75%.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree is preferred
