Regional Sales Manager - East Coast, Consumer Food Products Industry

Headquartered in Sacramento, California, approximately 3000 California almond growers deliver California almonds annually to their cooperative. The crop is marketed to all 50 states and more than 90 foreign countries, making almonds California's largest food export, and the sixth largest U.S. food export. The California crop is valued annually at over $1 billion dollars.

We have an immediate opportunity for a Regional Sales Manager - East Coast The ideal candidate will reside within the Northeast , U.S.  (New York ideal, but flexible on location)

In this role you will:

Develop and implement objectives that achieve sales forecast and profit plan by item, by market, by customer and by period consistent with Company goals and expectations; Develop and manage an effective broker sales network; Assign quarterly objectives through broker network in assigned territory; Hire, train and motivate broker network on an ongoing basis; Execute sales plan through active, personal involvement with key retailers through assigned territory; Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key customers and business partners in addition to relationships fostered by broker network; Conduct post-promotional analyses to evaluate promotional impact and cost effectiveness; Review and utilize syndicated industry data to develop fact-based presentations that exploit the potential of Blue Diamond brands; Monitor and report production's needs for core products, new product introductions and secondary display requirements on a weekly basis; Evaluate marketplace for opportunities, and present well documented rationale to sales and marketing management for product introductions, merchandising programs and/or marketing support; Support sales and marketing management with timely competitive and industry intelligence; Participate in trade shows as required; Must be able to interact with production, operations and accounting personnel.

Requirements:

Four year degree in Business, Marketing or Communication or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 10 - 15 Years of successful sales management experience within the consumer food products industry; Experience in snack foods or candy is a plus; Minimum of 5 years of experience managing food brokers; Travel up to 40% is required; Must have flexible schedule to accommodate visitors and travel; Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment and make quick decisions.; Must exemplify professionalism in selling and convey a strong sense of urgency toward achieving sales and profit goals and objectives; Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and negotiating skills; Must work independently, without supervision, with a high level of energy and creativity with strong follow through skills; Must be able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously; Must be able to work well in teams; Ability to analyze complex business situations and execute quick business decisions; Intermediate computer skills including Excel, Word, Powerpoint and use of spreadsheet construction, analysis and syndicated data such as IRI or Nielson is required.

Compensation: Base salary, auto allowance, and performance based sales bonus.
