JOB OVERVIEW
Provide marketing leadership and coaching to franchisees, advertising agencies, territory operators and the operations team. Develop, manage and implement DMA marketing plans and programs to optimize traffic, store sales, service fees and profits for Dairy Queen Franchisees. Protect Dairy Queen® Trademarks. Gain and maintain support of DMA chair people, ad committees, internal teammates, territory operators and other key franchisee leadership in achieving objectives. Communicate with all levels of the organization and team with other functions to achieve short and long term Dairy Queen objectives.
· Establish and manage the regional marketing budget and marketing plans for approx. 20 DMAs. Manage plan development in conjunction with regional advertising agencies. Seek input and gain alignment for proposed plans with DQ operations team and key franchisee constituents (DMA chairs, Ad Committees, Territory Operators). Communicate and document media and budget plans using corporate systems.
· Provide leadership and direction to regional advertising agencies. Monitor and manage agency communication with franchisees. Hold agencies accountable for media buying performance, media added value, field service and budget compliance. Formally review agency performance on an annual basis.
· Work closely with operations team. Collaborate with Directors of Operations/AVPs and Field Consultants to determine appropriate market strategies. Participate in the development and implementation of integrated business plans for each market in the region to achieve strategic objectives.
· Provide relevant business and financial analysis of key issues to internal and external shareholders including comp sales, sales trends by category and sales results generated by specific media activity. Evaluate local promotions, media investments and sales trends to help form plan recommendations. Present analysis to appropriate shareholders as appropriate.
· Assist in the development and management of brand team initiatives. Support efforts to maximize participation in the National Marketing Fund.
· Plan, produce and execute Fall Business Conferences in cooperation with operations team.
· Gain support of operations team and key franchisee constituents (DMA chairs, Ad Committees, Territory Operators) to support the test market calendar. Support and monitor tests in partnership with appropriate operations team members and the home office marketing team.
· Partner with appropriate DQ staff (i.e. EVP of Development, VP of Concept Evolution) to help position new and existing franchisees to establish and execute effective development, reinvestment and renewal strategies.
· Develops and manages profit plan for area of responsibility.
· Complete assigned projects and committee assignments as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required, Business Management or Marketing preferred. 5+ years marketing experience in QSR or Retail preferred. Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and listening skills. Excellent presentation skills and ability to lead meetings. Intermediate math skills, including percentages and cost of goods. Intermediate level computer skills, Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferredOTHER Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record Must attend meetings at home office quarterly, or as needed Must be able to travel about 10-12 weeks during the year
