Position Objective: Develop and execute a sales & marketing strategy to achieve sustainable and profitable growth in the Americas. Essential Functions: Thought Leadership: Partner with the Field Sales Leadership, Global Marketing and Business Unit teams to maximize return on investment from all marketing activities in the Americas. Partner with the Business Units to present the product portfolio in a customer centric way, increasing the breadth of products purchased. Develop strategies that organize and present invitrogen’s product portfolio internally. Drive profitability and volume growth through better understanding and recollection of customer workflows and associated product. Demand Generation: Develop and execute programs to generate demand for Invitrogen products and services resulting in run-rate revenue, volume and margin growth. Develop and execute programs to generate a funnel of qualified opportunities for follow up and closure. Provide thought leadership and Influence Business Units to maximize return on investment from all marketing activities executed in the Americas. Field Sales Focus & Strategy: Develop strategy and execute tactics to focus the Americas field selling teams for maximum profitability, revenue and volume growth. Partner with Sales Leadership and the Training Team to develop and evolve existing focus mechanisms (Quarterly Focus Meetings, Weekly Communications, Annual Sales Meeting etc) Channel Optimization: Develop existing channels and explore potential new channels to drive profitable growth and share gain in the Americas. Create a sustainable point of differentiation and competitive advantage for Invitrogen through the development of the onsite stock program through footprint expansion, automation, merchandising and supply chain efficiencies. Create a sustainable point of differentiation and competitive advantage for Invitrogen through the development of the inside sales channel including the use of new media to improve the customer experience. Work with Business Units and Global Marketing teams to maximize return on investment from web traffic and web intelligence resulting in direct revenue growth and providing qualified opportunities for follow up and closure. Nature and Scope: Has broad commercial, sales & marketing experience within the Life Science industry. Has advanced, in-depth knowledge of Invitrogen’s business, understands competitors strategies and industry practices. Able to develop, present, influence and articulate a strategic vision and plan to Senior Executives. Ability to act autonomously or with minimal direction and make decisions on complex issues within the fuctional area. Able to influence and provide thought leadership beyond the functional area. Recognizes and develops talent. Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline. MBA preferred. Experience Requirements: At least 10 years experience in a related sales, marketing or retail supply chain/vending channel leadership role. Thorough understanding of sales & marketing principles. Excellent leadership, communication, analytical and project management skills necessary. Business development skills and cross-functional team leadership experience a plus. Proven ability to see new business opportunities, set and meet aggressive objectives, and develop strong working relationships. This position is located in Carlsbad, CA.
