AMA is actively seeking motivated and talented Software Developers to create rich-Internet applications to support NASA engineering collaboration.
Job Title: Rails (Web) Developer Job DescriptionNASA needs talented developers to integrate and develop software tools and data located and used throughout the NASA centers.
The successful applicant will join a talented and fast-paced development team creating Rails applications to support NASA’s Constellation programs and projects. Primary application framework is Ruby On Rails. Interfaced applications/technologies include Windchill, Vignette, MySql, Oracle, Apache, Tomcat, TIBCO ESB, Web APIs (REST/SOAP) and more.
The candidate must be energetic, talented and *experienced* programmer. The candidate must also possess strong aptitude for algorithm development, user interface (UI) design, and technical problem solving. Demonstrated experience working on large projects in a group setting is a plus.
This position is in Huntsville, Alabama. US Citizenship is required- no exceptions.
Job duties include:
· Ruby, Python, Java or other Programming (Primary Responsibility)
· Application Design
· Interview customers to create or refine s/w requirement documents
· Providing technical documentation of code.
Required Skills
· Java, Python, or Ruby- Minimum 3 years of regular use.
· *Minimum* 5 years programming experience
· GUI Development
· Standards compliant multi-browser HTML, XHTML, and CSS development
· “Web 2.0” technologies/features such as
o Ajax and JavaScript
· Development of REST and/or SOAP web services
· Database design and SQL experience
· Familiarity with operating system internals, debugging and profiling strategies
· Familiarity with Linux based operating systems or Sun Solaris
· Strong problem solving skills and resourcefulness
