JOB TITLE: The Quality Program Manager conducts Nine-Step audits at the company's manufacturing plants or Co-manufacturing facility and identifies gaps in programs or processes. Follows up with plants to correct and strengthen gaps, incorporating third party audit deficiencies. Responsibilities include: -Accountable for ensuring that all applicable laws and company policies for quality, sanitation, and food safety are met by the manufacturing or distribution facilities.-Monitors data for product quality (“B & C” defects) and consumer complaints for plants and DC’s. Works with facilities to ensure that corrective action plans are implemented, and monitors progress against agreed upon goals and targets. -Updates the process related Quality Manuals to keep them current and calculates and issues production formulas based on official formulae.-Participates in Corporate Food Reviews, and upgrades expertise in product evaluation and product images.-Product quality issues are swiftly communicated to producing plants and issues are actively resolved. -Takes the lead for quality, food safety and sanitation issues within manufacturing plants and distribution centers.-Develops and monitors programs for the company and contracted facilities in conjunction with food safety experts to ensure that all relevant food safety programs are functioning at peak levels.
Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in food science or equivalent and a minimum of at least 5 years experience in a food production environment, Master’s degree in Food Science or equivalent and at least 3 years experience in a food production environment, or PhD in Food Science or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience in a food production environment required.-Knowledge of operations and good manufacturing practices is required. -Good written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and working knowledge and use of computers are essential. -Thorough understanding of sanitation practices and procedures and pest control is necessary. -Must have strong people skills and the ability to manage people, programs, and projects.
This position requires relocation to Michigan.
