JOB DESCRIPTION
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP), Bureau of Water Supply is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Director / Associate Chemist, Level III.

The selected candidate will work in the Watershed Water Quality Operations Division under the general supervision of the Deputy Chief for Watershed Water Quality Operations and will serve as the Watershed Quality Assurance Director.  The selected candidate responsibilities and tasks will include the following:  

• Enforces required protocols for adherence to mandated QA/QC procedures for Watershed Laboratory and Field Operations.
• Conducts and/or participates in audits and reviews of laboratory and field procedures to ensure quality and adherence to programmatic requirements.
• Ensures rectification of non-compliance with QA policies.
• Works effectively with management to implement a QA Program that meets Divisional objectives.
• Supervises and implements Bureau and Divisional administrative policies.   
• Promotes a workplace free from safety hazards, and ensures that employees adhere to, and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) laws, rules and regulations, and the policies, standards and procedures outlined in the DEP Employee Environmental, Health and Safety Handbook.  
• Demonstrates knowledge of and support for EEO standards and procedures.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1.  A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 16 semester credits in chemistry and 8 semester credits in any combination of the following areas:  chemistry, pharmacology, forensic science, environmental science, toxicology or other natural science, and two (2) years of full-time satisfactory experience performing chemical or physical analyses in a laboratory; or

2.  A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience that is equivalent to “1” above.  Education may be substituted for experience on the basis that 30 graduate semester credits from an accredited college in any of the above mentioned areas is equivalent to one (1) year of experience.  However, all candidates must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college with the specialized credits as described in '1” above.
