Quality/APQP Manager will be an active member of the Operations Management team. Will have two dir. rpts.-Sr. Supplier Dev. Eng & Quality Coordinator(admin) but also a high level of very hands on with all Business Units in the plant incl. management/salaried as well as non-salaried to maintain highest level of quality possible. Will also work collaboratively with Engineers & Sales Group to support customer requirements. Will travel approx. 10% which includes overseeing launch projects to ensure customer satisfaction & that budgeted cost parameters are met. Key will be someone who isn't used to having a big team to delegate to so they're accustomed to being very hands on & working through other's teams. Looking to see that demonstrated in a resume.
Operations Mgr. is dynamic & has turned the plant into a good money maker in 2 yrs. there. He's stressed that this person be very open minded & receptive to change. They've got an aggressive product development group & this person will need to be both a good leader & manager of people who don't necessarily report directly to them knowing they all work very closely together. They'll need to be able to be a customer advocate getting the necessary results. Intially he wants new addition to focus on more quality systems, being the voice of the customer, & have a high level of interaction with the Business Units (mgrs. & team) in order to convey customer needs & hold them accountable through good management & communication. Will additionally handle Equipment (machinery & tools) Purchasing & Process Engineering as part of the Engineering responsibilites so should have some of that experience too.
This is a public corporation & all of their div. (incl. automotive - which this is) made money in '07 & also 1st quarter so they're doing well. Main selling pt. is solid, stable, growing corp. overall incl. automotive which many, make that most, haven't heard of in far too long. NC Plant has gone through major restructuring in last cpl. yrs. with current Ops. Mgr. who is very highly thought of with turning it from a money loser to a money maker. This individual will need to be able to work with a lot of autonomy. Strong, capable Ops Mgr. who looks primarily at the team work & big picture for results. Lots of latitude as long as results are good but will hear it very directly if not.
To warrant an interview you must additionally have:
- B.S. degree in Engineering with a min. of 5 yrs. Tier One auto. mfg. exper. incl. progressive management experience. An M.S. degree is a strong plus.
- Experience with Automotive Product Quality Planning (APQP) & Auto Production Part Approval (PPAP) processes required.
- Experience with implementation of standards & procedures required to achieve & maintain auto ind. quality certifications (i.e. QS, T16949, etc.)
- Knowledge of multiple problem solving methods (i.e. Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiment, etc.)
- Experience with external customer & supplier relationships required incl. above average communication & organizational skills.
- Knowledgable across product lines in fibers &/or metals.
- Solid Launch, equipment purchasing & process engineering experience noted on resume.
