Description

Noramco, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Quality Control Lead Chemist at the Wilmington, DE site. This position conducts chemical and physical laboratory tests and analyzes raw materials, intermediates and final product to ensure compliance with standards. The QC Lead Chemist also oversees the day to day laboratory shift operations by performing the following duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assure that QC Labs run in a safe, clean and environmentally sound manner; review, trend, and approve laboratory analytical data; conduct laboratory investigations and complete corrective actions; troubleshoot, perform minor maintenance, and repair of the laboratory instruments. Provide technical support to lab analysts; represent QC department in cross-functional teams; prioritize and schedule sample analysis to ensure timely completion; conduct internal lab audits as assigned; train or schedule training to assure lab personnel are properly trained in tasks, procedures and regulations pertinent to their job; assure accurate and timely input of QC data to information systems: e.g. Trackwise, SAP, databases, etc, and issues QC shift report; maintain detailed records for FDA, DEA, safety and environmental purposes; provide guidance to Lab Analysts; appropriately delegate assignments and projects; keep management informed; maintain sample control in the QC laboratories; communicate with operations on analytical work, and attend operations shift turnover meeting. This position is also responsible for the duties of Lab Analyst I. In this position, the lead chemist will assign, oversee, and review work of QC laboratory analysts and will also provide input to employee performance. Currently, this position is slated to be a second shift position. You would need to be flexible to transition to other shifts if needed.



Bachelor's degree (B.A/B.S.) in Chemistry or related field from a four-year college or university and two to four years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of chemical concepts and theories; Strong knowledge of lab instrumentation, eg: GC, HPLC, Karl fisher, etc.; strong interpersonal and consultative skills; familiarity with the production process; knowledge of software applications for data entry and word processing. Must have the ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining speed of work and attention to detail without loss to production; ability to perform under stress in cases of emergency, critical or hazardous situations; ability to work with others in a team environment; and an eye for detail and accuracy.
