The Company

Our client, a leading manufacturer, is seeking a Purchasing Manager for its facility located approximately 30 miles from Bloomington, Illinois.

 

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager, the Purchasing Manager will ensure a constant supply of materials to support production and business operations.  Key performance indicators will include cost, quality and procurement cycle time.  This is a critical and visible position for an aggressive and experienced purchasing manager who seeks the challenge of building a world-class procurement organization.  Other responsibilities include:

·                     Develop supply sources and negotiate with suppliers for goods and services.

·                     Design and promote supplier certification and quality improvement programs.

·                     Evaluate opportunities for supply chain cost reductions.

·                     Direct and develop purchasing staff to maximize efforts and improve processes.

·                     Monitor industry trends, relevant government legislation and competitor activities.

·                     Ensure the highest level of ethics and conduct in all procurement activities.

·                     Review of purchase contracts for compliance with legal and policy requirements.

·                     Support activities to maintain appropriate inventory turnover.

 

 

Requirements

 

·                     Bachelor’s degree in business or related technical field.

·                     5 years experience in manufacturing procurement.

·                     Supervisory experience.

·                     Excellent supplier management background.

·                     Effective oral and written communication skills.
