Purchasing Manager - Renewable Energy Company
Scope of Position:
This position oversees the purchase of goods and services for our clinet in an efficient and economical manner. Also maintains the policies and practices related to inventory. The major purchasing is in the wind energy field with wind turbines parts.
Working Conditions:
85% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. 15% of the time in the field, either working with facilities/teams at other locations, meeting with vendors, facility inspections, etc.
Responsibilities:
Establishes policies and procedures to be followed by purchasing supervisor and purchasing clerks.
Approves selection of major vendors. Trains purchasing team to assess vendor capabilities develop sources and evaluate vendor performance.
Negotiates terms of major contracts and blanket orders.
Responsible for establish and maintaining procedures including but not limited to the Inventory Parts & Supplies lists, Work Orders, sub-suppliers, handling storage, packaging and delivering and quality records.
In conjunction with Accounting, recommend and maintain departmental budgets and expenses.
Recommends major purchases of materials on the basis of anticipated changes in prices or on unusual availability situations. Balances cash flow considerations against possible price savings.
Supervises accurate recordkeeping, including price histories and difficulties in doing business with particular vendors.
Establishes policies that maintain inventories in as low a manner as possible while avoiding shortages of necessary raw materials and supplies.
Responsible for the execution of a bi-annual physical inventory at all locations.
Evaluate and investigate the cause of deviations.
Assure that all employees follow the existing tagging procedures.
Develop and maintain traceability processes on all parts during purchasing, storage and sales.
Hires, supervises and evaluates job performances of purchasing department personnel.
All other duties as assigned by the VP, Operations & Maintenance or his/or designee..
Qualifications:
BA/BS from an accredited college or university preferred in Business Administration or related subject.
At least five (5) years experience in purchasing, with at least two years supervising other purchasing personnel.
Excellent skills at negotiating and contract writing.
Excellent administrative, organization and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. A good understanding of the Maximo Work Order System is preferred.
Working experience within the wind-energy or renewable energy field preferred.
