General Summary

 

The Purchasing Manager at Humminbird is a staff level position reporting to the MEG Materials Director with an indirect report to the General Manager in Eufaula.  He/she functions as a team member in making decisions to support the organization’s goals by directing and coordinating activities of the organization to obtain efficiency of operations and maximize profits.  He/she manages the activities of purchasing raw materials and sourced finished goods for MEG.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

 

·         Supplier Delivery Performance

·         Inventory Control & management

·         Purchasing of raw materials and purchased finished goods

·         Maintenance, Repair and Operations buying

·         Daily interaction with other departments to ensure schedules and goals are met

·         Supervises 6 Buyers and 2 Associate Buyer located in Eufaula, AL and Mankato MN

·         This position reports to the Materials Director for the Marine Electronics Group

·         Moderate travel required domestically

 

 

 

 

Knowledge & Background Requirements:

 

 

·         Able to function in a team environment, must be user friendly and approachable

·         Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Computer literacy with MRP/ERP, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

·         Well rounded business acumen

·         Must have supervisory experience

 

Education Required: BS in Business Administration or related field of study.

 

Professional licensing and/or Certifications Required: APICS certification preferred

 

Experience Required: Ten + years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience needs to be progressive.  Consumer electronics experience is a plus.
