The BearingPoint Public Services Team is currently searching for a Public Safety Network Engineer. Location/s: McLean, VA Relocation: No Performance Profile: BearingPoints Public Safety Wireless Team is expanding and in the process of adding another Public Safety Network Engineer. Position-specific Requirements: - 8+ years of progressive and intensive experience in the design and implementation of Public Safety wireless communications systems. - A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering or science discipline from an accredited college or university is required. - 3+ years knowledge of APCO P25 standards, conventional or trunked analog and digital LMR systems, wireless private or public safety communication equipment, and DES/AES encryption. - 4+ years of experience with troubleshooting and repairing LMR systems, subscriber equipment, and backhaul systems, including fiber optics, copper lines, and point-to-point microwave systems. - 4+ years of experience with VoIP and IP networking. - 4+ years experience with satellite communications, primarily VSAT. Position-desired Requirements: - Must have excellent interpersonal and customer communications skills, to include excellent written communications skills. - Must have demonstrated ability to perform and supervise multiple tasks in parallel and the ability to operate with little supervision on an aggressive timeline. - Must be able to effectively communicate project status and proactively identify and report issues and/or risks that threaten to impact project timelines or budget. - Previous experience in the design and implementation of Public Safety systems is highly desired. - Experience consulting to or working for Land Mobile Radio vendors such as Motorola, EF Johnson, or MA/Com highly desired. - Experience either working for, or consulting to, state and/or local government Public Safety agencies is highly desired. - Cisco CCNA desired; CCNP highly desired. - A Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering or science discipline from an accredited college or university is highly desired. - Active membership in industry associations such as APCO is desired.
