Currently, The Rockport Company is looking for a Public Relations Manager to join it's Global Communications team. The purpose of this role is to define and drive US Public Relations strategy for the Rockport brand consistent with overall US and Global brand marketing priorities, business objectives and creative direction.

Key Accountabilities:
Press Relations
• Develop seasonal stories that align with brand strategy and initiatives in order to generate press coverage of the Rockport brand.   Analyze business needs and the evolving media landscape to create plans that support key products, stories and themes in order to raise the Rockport profile in the US across a variety of media outlets and with a varied range of consumers.
• Lead relationship with external PR agencies, leading quarterly meetings to brief in priority projects and define seasonal initiatives. Set measurable objectives for new idea generation and media coverage across print, broadcast, and digital landscapes. Negotiate annual agency contracts.
• Develop, cultivate, and manage ongoing relationships with fashion writers and editors from major, relevant publications, websites, and news entities, including fashion/lifestyle and trade/industry press.
• Develop key message points and media preparation for company spokespeople (any employee who may be called upon to speak on behalf of the company)
• Manage the annual US PR budget.

Corporate Communications
• Serve as liaison to Adidas Global PR counterparts to insure that US priorities and needs are addressed in global plans with relevant, appropriate support materials and information developed and delivered in a timely fashion (this will include but not limited to, global intranet, collateral material, etc).
• Conduct media training with company spokespersons at the senior management level. Brief senior management and other spokespeople on the media landscape and how to navigate potential hot button issues they may encounter. Serve as a spokesperson.
• Responsible for Corporate Communications initiatives including speech writing and presentations for Senior Management, maintaining and creating executive bios, maintaining executive head shots and organizing corporate head shot photo shoots one per year or as necessary.
• Responsible for all corporate news announcements such as global partnerships that do not involve product or marketing. This includes press releases, statements to media, corporate or brand documents such as corporate backgrounder or internal messaging documents.
• Provide recaps, clip reports and updates to Senior Management of key corporate announcements, PR initiatives and footwear industry news. 

Experience Required:
Minimum Required:
• BS degree or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years relevant experience in Public Relations within either a corporation or an agency
• Superlative writing skills are a must
• Proven ability to built and maintain effective press relationships

Preferred:
• Previous experience with fashion press
• Previous footwear experience is a plus
• Experience working within a global / international setting is a plus
