The Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) in Anoka, Minnesota is seeking Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners/Clinical Nurse Specialist to perform certified advanced practice professional nursing work, with authorization to prescribe in the State of Minnesota.
AMRTC is a tertiary care psychiatric hospital, accepting only committed patients as transfers from other facilities in the eight-county Twin Cities metropolitan area. Our 200-bed inpatient mental health facility consists of eight 25-bed units. One of these units is dedicated to the treatment of psychiatric patients with comorbid medical conditions, one is devoted to the management of “Rule 20” treat to competency patients, and 1 is for patients with high levels of behavioral acuity. The remaining five units are general psychiatric units. Our average length of stay is about 70 days.
The mental health system in Minnesota is currently undergoing a radical transformation. All of the state hospitals except AMRTC are being replaced by community based, 16 bed “community behavioral health hospitals”. Five of these new state operated community psychiatric hospitals are under construction and are slated to come online within the next year. AMRTC will house a centralized admissions office for the new statewide system, and is poised to develop consultative televideo support of the 16 bed programs as they open. In addition, AMRTC is the site of an innovative program involving the hospital and several minnesota counties, that allows collaborative case management between the county and the hospital to occur very early in the course of the patient’s hospitalization.
