Agrium Inc. is a leading producer and marketer of fertilizer in North America and a major retail supplier of agricultural products and services in both North America and Argentina.

We are currently recruiting for the following position for Distribution Services.  This is a US position, which will be located in either Denver, CO or in Collinsville, IL (just outside of St. Louis, Missouri).

 

Projects Engineer

 

Reporting to Distribution Services Manager, you are accountable for leading the development, planning, field execution, and startup of projects ranging from $20K to $3MM each.  You will have overall responsibility to assure that project work is carried out in a safe manner, on time, and within budget while ensuring that all applicable technical requirements of Agrium’s US Distribution Terminals are met.

 

Specific Responsibilities Will Include:

Provide overall project management following Agrium’s Project Work Management Process from scope development to startup. Project management includes working with and coordinating efforts among Agrium facility personnel, various skilled trades and 3rd-party contractors, to achieve project design intentions. Apply engineering knowledge, skills, tools, experience, and techniques to project activities to meet or exceed stakeholder needs, objectives, and expectations.Ensure successful completion of projects in accordance with established Agrium procedures, standards, and policies.Provide technical support based on sound engineering principals and recognized industry standards.Prepare capital budgets, schedules and resource allocation plans for multi-discipline projects, incorporating best practices in cost control, risk analysis and schedule stewardship.Manage and control projects to ensure that objectives are met in an economical and timely manner, and that quality control requirements are either developed or met as required.Act as liaison between terminal personnel, technical groups and outside contractors. As such the Project Engineer must have excellent communication and analytical skills applying an understanding and knowledge of the overall operation of distribution terminals.Ability to coordinate meeting and travel schedules according to project, Distribution Network and Services requirements and timelines.

 

Qualifications of the Position Include:

Must hold a Bachelors of Science (or Bachelors of Engineering) degree in Mechanical EngineeringMust have a minimum of 4-6 years engineering, maintenance, project, and/or operations experience at an chemical processing facility or a heavy industrial sitePreference will be given to candidates who have experience with Environmental, Health, and Safety issues (OSHA – PSM regulation) in the chemical/fertilizer industry, P&ID and technical drawing knowledge and application, and use of SAP business computer platform (materials procurement, project cost tracking, etc.)Must have capabilities and learning aptitude in the use of advance computer methods of data collection, data analysis, and engineering/construction progress reporting.
