The Project Manager will manage software development projects with rapid timelines and evolving requirements. This includes participating in all phases of the software application development lifecycle with emphasis on project planning, requirements gathering and definition, driving resolution of requirements, design, testing and coordinating tasks involving dependencies on cross-functional teams.
The Project Manager will coordinate activities across business and functional areas and communicate effectively across the organization. The Project Manager will possess a strong attention to detail, excellent relationship management skills, and the ability to effectively facilitate work sessions with technical architects and business sponsors.
Ideally, the Project Manager will have at least 2-4 years of software development experience and at least 3 years of experience leading software development teams. The Project Manager will possess comprehensive knowledge of standard software development methodologies such as Rational Unified Process (RUP), Agile Development, XP, Scrum, or the like and understanding of Microsoft web development technologies (ASP.Net, XML/XSL, HTML, JavaScript, SQL) and best practice techniques.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate and drive to successful completion all phases of a project including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance and optimization. Communicate effectively with all levels within the organization, including the business and technical departments. Manage shifting timelines and priorities while maintaining project scope. Work closely with developers, managers and executives to ensure the release of high quality products. Work with sales, marketing and other business units to determine scope and business requirements. Work with users and information system development staff to determine data storage and access requirements. Cultivate close working relationships with the application teams and users on new and existing software applications. Maintain project timelines and ensure allocated resources are performing to optimal levels. Schedule and lead requirements gathering sessions. Coordinate across all phases within a software release.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
At least 2-3 years experience in hands-on software development. At least 3 years experience in leading software development teams. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and application of standard software development methodologies such as RUP, Agile, XP, or Scrum. Demonstrated experience in defining scope and vision, participation in requirements analysis and documentation, project estimation and planning, resource allocation and supervision. Experience with Microsoft web technologies (.Net, ASP.net, ASP, XML/XSL, HTML, JavaScript) and best practice techniques. Experience with SQL and enterprise relational DBMS packages, preferably Microsoft SQL Server 2003. Must be able to work in a time-critical environment and be decisive when faced with complex problems. Solid, demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational and time management skills. Must be able to work on/manage multiple tasks concurrently.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
BS/BA in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent preferred; Masters Degree a plus. Understanding and use of project management tools, including the MS Office suite, Visio and MS Project. Experience in web-based eCommerce environment supporting high volume, transactional applications.
