We have a challenging and rewarding position of Project Manager in our Construction Division.  You will have the primary responsibility to supervise and administer construction-related activity of Sterling Construction with emphasis on quality and production. Other Job duties include, but not limited to:

 

Prepare preliminary budgets for potential or upcoming projects using information available from the development package, past pricing, and any available drawings.   Estimate assigned projects through the use of electronic digitization software, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, and assigning accurate pricing for each element of work. Work with the Development Coordinator to obtain final drawings for use in construction.  Review all Civil, Architectural, and Landscape drawings and specifications, and provide comments regarding the constructability, conflicts, use of standardized materials and products, and coordination/conflicts of individual trades stipulated on the project drawings.   Identify potential Subcontractors and Vendors for use on the project and send out initial bid invitation letters and pre-qualification notices.   

Qualifications:

 

Must be willing to relocate to the South Bend/Mishawaka, IN area.Candidate should have a two year or four year degree in Construction Technology and a minimum of 5 years hands on field superintendent experience with slab on grade / wood framed construction to include major site development, minimum 2 years multi-family construction, and a minimum of 5 years as a buyer in support of construction projects in excess of $5 million.  Must possess the ability to write and work with spreadsheets, perform electronic scheduling, use word processing software, and be proficient with internet/intranet use.Proven track record regarding ability to effectively work with superintendents, subcontractors and vendors simultaneously at multiple sites locations. Ability to perform accurate and detailed takeoffs from Civil, Architectural, and Landscape Drawings through the use of computerized estimating and digitizing software.Conceptual and working knowledge of contract Schedule of Values, Schedule of Durations, ability to prepare and review Job Cost Reports and Percentage Sheets.  Ability to formalize and maintain the construction budget and be able to accurately track all budget changes, and prepare budget reconciliations on a weekly basis.
