Project Management Expert

The successful candidate will provide Project Management expertise and support to the General Services Administration (GSA), Public Building Service (PBS) Realty and Customer Services Management (RCSM) Customer Services Program Team in the Great Lakes Region (Government-owned and leased buildings within the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota and Wisconsin).  This position will be available starting August 15, 2008, contingent on Government award of a contract to Paragon Technology Group, Inc. 

 

Requirements:

·        Minimum 4-year college degree (Master’s degree desired) in a related field

·        Active Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and be an expert on the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) and PMI standards

·        Expertise in the project management standards and best practices of the commercial real estate and construction industry

·        Minimum 5 years experience as a Project Manager, demonstrated by project descriptions and reference for each project

·        Minimum 5 – 7 years experience in Organizational and Business Process Development

·        Knowledge of construction and real estate practices

·        Good communications skills - Must communicate effectively in writing and orally with all levels of technical, operational and management personnel, as required.

·        Strong customer skills - Must be able to work with all skill and interest levels in resolving user concerns.

·        Strong interpersonal skills - Specifically with respect to team communication.

·        Ability to manage, reprioritize, and deal effectively with multiple tasks.

·        Ability to assume responsibility for managing projects and maintaining technical excellence in project management.

·        Ability to research problems and provide or coordinate solutions.

·        Strong organizational skills, implying the capability of working with other employees/contractors as needed to resolve customer issues and to retain accountability for ensuring that a final resolution is achieved in as timely a manner as possible.

·        Good communications skills - Must communicate effectively in writing and orally with all levels of technical, operational and management personnel, as required.

·        Strong customer skills - Must be able to work with all skill and interest levels in resolving user concerns.

·        Strong interpersonal skills - Specifically with respect to team communication.

·        Must be a highly motivated, problem solver, and result oriented Project Manager

 

Duties include, but not limited to:

1.      Successfully integrating project management industry standards and good practices, as prescribed by the Project Management Institute (PMI), into the existing PBS project management program in the GSA Great Lakes Region

2.      Utilizing project management industry expertise and knowledge of PMI standards to evaluate the current PBS project management program, determining how to best integrate PMI standards, and developing a plan to implement a new project management program

3.      Reviewing and analyzing the current PBS project management program, policies, and procedures against industry (PMI) standard practices

4.      Defining and developing a new formal project management program structure and guidelines, incorporating PMI standards into current PBS policy and procedures

5.      Developing standard operating procedures for the following GSA- and customer driven project types:

·        Capital construction projects

·        Customer projects (leased and owned space)

·        Minor space alterations projects

6.      Developing a strategy for implementing the new formal project management program in all affected PBS Divisions

7.      Performing closely with the Customer Services Program Manager and team members to ensure clear planning and direction of day to day operations

8.      Utilizing specialized knowledge of PMI standards to assist the Customer Services Program Team in development and implementation of new project management program and processes to improve service to our customers
