There is an immediate opening for a Project Accountant.  This is an Exempt Professional position which will report to the BU Construction Accounting Manager and Sugar Product Line Accountant.  This position will be responsible for managing the accounting and related risk areas for a $140m sugar refinery in Reserve, LA.  Primarily located in Louisiana but may include an initial training period in Blair, NE as well as travel to Blair and Mpls during project construction.  This person will be a Cargill employee, but will be contracted to the joint venture.  The position is for a 2-3 year timeline for accounting from beginning of the construction project through start up and commissioning. Towards the end of this assignment, eligible employees may apply for other Cargill positions. Principal Responsibilities:Be an integral member of the project management team Ensure all costs for this project are properly budgeted, coded, taxed, and capitalized Ensure proper p&l structure set up and linked to asap structure setup including equipment listing Ensure proper controls exist for the project including but not limited to spending approvals, equipment delivery and payments, and contractor risks Ensure accurate preparation of construction contracts for the project, ensuring proper insurance certificates, bonding requirements, lien waivers, etc. Provide routine and ad-hoc reporting on committed and spent funds as well as projections and ensuring accurate allocation review Provide reporting for JV partner Prepare funding requests for capital calls Ensure capitalized interest and salaries are calculated accurately and charged to the project Tracking, reporting and application for any tax incentive or rebates/refunds received as part of the construction project Proper setup of final assets Liaison, mentor and/or trainer on accounting/GAAP issues and asap questions from project team members (engineering and procurement) Assist with setup of product line accounting and any special reporting as necessary for partnership Supervision of project admin staff including support accountants Required:Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting Minimum of 3 years accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment Preferred:Previous construction accounting or project management experience Previous experience with JV accounting Demonstrated strong communication skills - verbal and written, internal and external Familiarity with general expense and capitalization guidelines Familiarity with internal controls and the COSO model Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong accounting skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-functional team environment. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently Demonstrated self-directed and self-motivated Demonstrated leadership skills Proficiency with Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Access with a minimum of 2 years experience Knowledge of ASAP and JDE software systems, ability to write reports and analyze data Ability to extract/manipulate/summarize data from multiple systems Ability and willingness to work varied and extended hours as the job demands                                                                 Cargill, founded in 1865, is an international provider of food, agricultural and risk management products and services.
