We are seeking a hands-on professional to join our team.          

Engineering Project / Program Manager

PURPOSE:

Plan, schedule and manage Engineering level projects and programs for new product development, sustaining and upgrade projects for existing products. New product development includes projects that are solely designed and developed using internal Velodyne Engineering resources and also products that are co-developed using internal Velodyne Engineering resources and engineering resources provided by suppliers and outside contractors.

 JOB DUTIES:

-         Develop and maintain project plans for all Engineering level projects in new product development or sustaining of existing products

-         Determine the applicable resources required to complete a specific task in a project plan including internal resources or external resources at either a supplier or outside contractor

-         Calculate the completion percentage on specific task in a project plan to determine if the task is on time to completion or falling behind

-         Identify roadblocks and bottlenecks to completing a specific task or project on time and determine a course of action to eliminate or avoid them.

-         Communicate with the Engineering resources inside of the supply chain to make sure the specific tasks assigned to them are progressing at the assigned rate for completion

-         Conduct Project and Design Reviews as required

-         Travel to China to review progress on projects and tasks assigned to suppliers engineering resources

-         Interface with departments and organizations outside of Engineering to insure project and program goals are aligned

-         Review Engineering level specifications to assist in determining what tasks will be assigned and completed by Velodyne Engineering and what tasks will be assigned to supplier Engineering resources or outside contractors

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

-         BSEE or Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Project / Program Management

-         Must have 5-7 years of experience in an Engineering Project Management role

-         Experience in Audio Industry and / or company is a plus

-         Experience working with global sources, especially China based suppliers is a plus
