Provide technical management and leadership necessary to meet product hardware design, validation, and development objectives.

Qualifications:
· Formulate design plans and strategies and manage development/design projects to meet product features, performance, cost and completion schedules. · Evaluate technical progress of projects to ensure sound application of scientific and engineering principles and product performance versus schedule tradeoffs. · Evaluate final results of projects to ensure accomplishment of technical objectives. · Prepare and present reports outlining new product/technical initiatives, project status and the results of projects to upper management. · Recruit, train and develop technical staff as required. · Plan and control resources to meet goals within budget. Organize workloads, select individuals qualified for assignments and make assignments that balances concern for productivity and results with the need to provide job assignments which give subordinates the opportunity to learn and grow. · Participate and cooperate with other functions in preparing design specifications. Review design rules needed for current designs. · Participate as a major contributor in the strategic and tactical planning, for various product lines, related to technical product planning, technology development and technical tool planning. · Provide/develop necessary drawings, bills of materials, program codes and documentation to facilitate the manufacture of prototypes, final products and/or procurement of the defined products. · Assist/participate in the analysis and resolution of producibility and performance related problems from the time of conception through the production cycle; actively acquire customer feedback, internal and external, needed to improve product offerings or departmental services. · Maintain thorough familiarity with policies and procedures relating to Standards of Business Conduct. Train and motivate subordinates in the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures. · Assess performance and provide guidance/support for the professional growth of direct reports while actively developing succession capabilities. · By direct example, establish strong, consistent standards of acceptable performance for subordinates. · Maintain a current awareness in telecommunications and multimedia products sufficient to understand global technology and product development plans. (This activity includes standards tracking and marketing and customer interface.) Continually improve understanding of emerging technical areas and disseminate or provide mechanisms for disseminating information regarding global technical and engineering developments to work groups.
