Growing independent exploration and production company with both domestic and international operations is seeking a PRODUCTION ENGINEER for a position located in North Dakota.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

As an integral member the North Dakota based technical team, position provides direct production engineering support for field activities involving well completions, workover operations, artificial lift maintenance, and surface facility maintenance / upgrade projects.

 

ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assignment fields are located in the North Dakota portion of the Williston Basin and consist of carbonate and sandstone completion horizons extending to 14,000’.  Operational challenges include formation temperatures in excess of 300°F, corrosive / scaling fluids which can contain free salt, paraffin, and H2S concentrations up to 30%.  Sucker rod, gas lift, and electric submersible pump artificial lift techniques are currently utilized.  Reserve recovery mechanisms include pressure depletion and secondary waterflood pressure maintenance with future opportunities for CO2 flooding.  Both vertical and horizontal drilling technology is being employed to increase the reserve base of the business unit.

§         Work in conjunction with Houston technical team and field operations personnel to set and achieve HSE, production, Opex, and reserve replacement targets identified by management.

§         Monitor performance of wells within assigned area of responsibility.  Exploit previous production experience in recompletions, workovers (including coiled tubing, stimulation, and electric wireline), and artificial lift operations to identify opportunities for production increases or expense reductions.  Develop engineered work programs to achieve targeted improvements while complying with safety, environmental, and health best practices.

§         Provide technical support to field operations personnel within assigned area of responsibility.

§         Analyze and design sucker rod installations using THETA software.  For ESP and gas lift installations, vendor provided design services are utilized.  Training can be provided for THETA software but applicant should have a good understanding of the fundamentals of sucker rod, ESP, and gas lift operations.

§         Utilize knowledge of pipeline and production facility equipment to provide technical support to field personnel and members of the ND Facility Team on facility maintenance and infrastructure upgrade projects.

§         Assist Houston technical team by implementing completion and stimulation programs for new well completions.

§         Appear as “expert witness” on various issues brought before the Oil & Gas Division of the North Dakota Industrial Commission.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

§         3 years of experience in an Exploration and Production environment

§         Broad based and well developed subsurface production engineering knowledge.

§         Basic understanding of production facility equipment operations.

§         Good understanding of related disciplines including geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, drilling, and economics.

§         Self motivated with the ability to multi-task.

§         Computing and analytical skills

§         Supporter of “team” concept.

§         Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills.

§         Knowledge of health, environmental, and safety best practices.

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

B.S. Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
