RESPONSIBILITIES
The Product Manager will be responsible for development and execution of a complete business plan for the profitable manufacturing and sales of selected specialty products as approved by senior management including full P & L responsibilities. You will be responsible for all aspects of the development of those products including market promotion, sales growth, product positioning, cost, quality, improvements, and customer support. Accountable for
successful on time and on budget performance against metrics set out in the approved product business plans while working in concert with the GFP Sales and Manufacturing resources, as well as with internal and external participants as required. Will continually identify any opportunities for existing product enhancement and re-positioning, as well as identify any new products to be added to the group either through internal development, joint-development, or acquisition.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Develop and execute the overall business plan to grow product marginDirectly responsible for coordinating and monitoring execution of the marketing plan with the sales team including identifying new customers and markets for your productIncrease brand awareness and customer loyalty: leading to short and long-term profitabilityCoordinate with manufacturing team on product quality/improvements/specificationsComplete competitive analysis for your product(s)Work closely with GM – Sales on sales plans and execution Determine the appropriate product strategy to achieve sales goals (product quality/costs/pricing/promotions, etc.) Initiate, communicate, coordinate, and monitor execution of product strategyDetermine timelines and budget to achieve sales goalsProduct positioning in the market placeInvestigate and recommend additional products to add to that product groupRecommend intellectual property strategy, sales channel strategy and product promotional programs and eventsSKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
University education in a Business/Marketing based program Minimum 7 years work experience in a Product Management position, preferable in massive consumption industry, manufacturing environmentsUnderstanding of building structural materials, challenges and industry trendsStrong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and negotiation skillsAbility to both manage and work within a project teamGood communication skills (verbal and written) and the demonstrated ability to use MS Office (Word, Project, Power Point, Excel)Knowledge of Forest Products Industry will be considered an asset Experience building relationships and selling to customersStrong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task when called uponLocation: Mississauga Office, Canada, Alcolu or Fairfax, South CarolinaOccasional travel to company mills or to gather market/competitive information (30% +) will be necessaryAbility to meet deadlines on a consistent basis.
