Responsible for the management of an Engineered Specials (ES) engineering group. This group is responsible for design and manufacturability of non-standard product systems and integrated solutions engineering for National Accounts and Distributors. They have the responsibility for supporting pre-sales requests for application assistance, quotes and special product requests from distributors and national account sales. Strong understanding and the application of internal combustion engines is required.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Manages development and delivery of non-standard products, systems and integrated solutions packages. This includes product developed for the company by a third party. Accountable for standardizing, simplifying and modularizing product lines to be solutions- ready. Responds with flexibility, openness and due diligence in tailoring products for solutions packages. Responsible for developing life-cycle costing models to justify, on a value added basis, systems including, but not limited to, Clip (combined heat and power using internal combustion engines and microturbines), UPS’s and large gas generator sets. Communicates with Project Management Group to verify product specifications and assure that customer requested quotation are delivered on time and complete. Coordinates with purchasing on any new component selections to ensure their fitness for the purpose intended and that the cost is in line with divisional gross margin requirement. Coordinates with Quality and Project Management on the technical resolution of warranty and service issues for systems and products originating from the ES Group. Interfaces with Accounting, Project Management and Sales Departments with regard to pricing and project gross margin targets. Develops and maintains technical literature and test results for systems quoted through the ES Group. Select and work with third party suppliers that have a design and manufacturing expertise on product that is outside the core product and competency of company. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS BS or MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required. Minimum of 10 years experience in mechanical product and system design involving the application of internal combustion engines. Must be a US Citizen. Minimum of 6 years experience in supervisory engineering management.
