Job Summary:
Accomplish customer targeted service levels and achieve budgeted inventory levels while managing a team of buyers and assistants against their core functions. Engage with customers on KPI (Key Performance Indicators) performance, successes, and concerns. Partner with vendors to successfully manage all aspects of product flow.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensure service level targets are met by thorough daily review and action planning. Problem-solve issues and communicate results to Management and Customers.Train and counsel buyers and assistants to maximize performance.Maintain budgeted inventory levels through such actions as creating on order targets and managing to them, and utilizing system tools to analyze and react to trends. Work with team-members to accomplish established goals.Interface with customers, such as handling of weekly calls that address opportunities with service, bookings, and dead and excess.Negotiate with vendors and customers to maximize product flow, manage inventory levels, and coordinate action against close coded, expired, and other unproductive inventory.Proactively manage the customer’s upcoming ads, utilizing key reports and addressing issues with appropriate individuals.Maximize efficiencies with business partners at warehouse facilities and transportation by utilizing capacity planning reports and ensuring consistent communication.Develop and implement a holiday plan. Work with Transportation, Warehouse, Logistics, and Buyers.Special projects, such as new business: data cleansing; committees.Conduct daily buyer meetings to ensure clear communication and direction.Participates in daily staff meetings to engage in developing strategies for managing the business.Leverage new systems and technologies such as eDW, Demantra, and Biceps, and ensure buyer maximization of such.Manage a salvage financial budget, working with buyers, vendors, and customers to minimize the expense to C&S.Oversee a transfer financial budget.Responsible for all aspects of people management—hiring, training, counseling, and termination where applicable.Additional tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience5+ years grocery procurement experience as well as experience managing a buying team.Extensive knowledge of grocery procurement activities. Ability to negotiate and create successful relationships with vendors and customers. Excellent human resource management skills.Sound statistical acumen, interpretation and analytical ability. Professional verbal and written communication skills. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
