Job Overview:
ATMI is seeking an energetic, highly experienced Buyer for our Bloomington, Minnesota location. This position will report directly to the Procurement Manager. Our Bloomington facility is responsible for supplying high quality, high purity packaging through a global network of distribution centers and direct customer deliveries. As a Buyer, you will be responsible for driving supplier excellence within the ATMI supply base through managing the purchase of components and products. Qualified candidates must have a record of success in planning, purchasing and problem solving with an interest developing and implementing improved global processes across all elements of supplier management. You will take an active role in ensuring new product requirements are visible and being managed. This person must have the ability to drive improvements in performance metrics for the team as well as across ATMI. In this role you will interface with planning, customer service, engineering, logistics and operational teams to enable suppliers in meeting the needs of the customer.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Execute purchase orders, in a timely manner, based on appropriate authorization to assure that quality commodities/materials/services are provided in support of the requirements;
· Review MRP Action Messages and Exception Messages taking action such as order placement, expediting and investigation as required;
· Manage deliveries of goods, services and non-inventory items utilizing discrete purchase, blanket orders and blanket order releases, outside processing purchase orders and VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory);
· Assist in sourcing, qualifying and managing suppliers which includes pricing, terms, contracts and supplier performance;
· Operate in a cross functional environment with groups such as R&D/engineering, logistics, quality, and operational teams to enable success of suppliers and ATMI in meeting customer expectations;
· Report and drive internal and external performance metrics for the global supply chain group;
· Utilize root cause analysis and develop action plans for improvement initiatives;
· Share best known methods in the performance of the position and assist in applying them globally;
· Provide purchasing support for other ATMI or contract manufacturing sites as necessary;
· Approximately 15% travel generally not exceeding a week at a time.
Education/Experience:
· Bachelor?s Degree or equivalent from four-year College or technical school preferred;
· CPM preferred, along with other formal training/certifications in MRP, negotiation, supply management, problem solving/root cause analysis;
· 3+ years purchasing or related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment;
· Working knowledge of ERP system required, Oracle preferred;
· Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications required;
· Formal training and or certification in MRP, purchasing, negotiation, supply management, problem solving/root cause analysis;
· Experience developing and implementing policies, procedures and work instructions;
· Knowledge of ISO principles;
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
