Summary: Coordinate, observe and provide technical support for externally manufactured products. Work collaboratively with external and internal TIMET manufacturing locations to implement “Best Practices” throughout the supplier network.  Ensure company products and processes comply with quality standards and procedures as defined by the Company, Customers, and Regulatory Bodies. 

Principal Responsibilities:

¨       Oversee the manufacture of externally manufactured products (including conversion observation, scheduling and coordination)

¨       Define and implement robust processes for externally manufactured products

¨       Survey potential vendors for their capability to manufacture external products

¨       Develop and continuously improve specifications and procedures for processing externally manufactured products

¨       Assist in the evaluation and development of new value added products.

¨       Identify improvements in equipment, processes or inspection technologies necessary to assure satisfactory process capability and achieve market cost expectations

¨       Assist with the transfer of technology from laboratory to manufacturing processes when utilization of external resources are required for the manufacturing process

Additional Responsibilities:

¨       Work with suppliers and Q&T personnel to determine product requirements and develop the corresponding Standard Operating Procedures

¨       Work with the outside converters to identify the Key Process Indicators for the product and the application of SPC to monitor those characteristics

¨       Inspect and approve equipment for processing TIMET material

¨       Assist in training of observers and converters to established inspection procedures to enable customer shipments to be made from outside conversion plants

¨       Review and comment on specifications, purchase orders and contracts

¨       Manage mill experiments and corrective actions in accordance with corporate policy

¨       Participate and assist in coordination of manufacturing activities to meet AS 9100 standards

¨       Assist and direct personnel in assembly of certifications

Education/Experience Requirements:

¨       Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality or materials technology from an accredited college or university with 5 or more years of related experience and/or training (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

¨       Experience in vendor coordination and scheduling required

¨       Experience in quality assurance and commercial and military specifications

¨       Experience with Statistical Process Control application and Six-Sigma improvement techniques preferred
