Position Overview

 

The key charter of this position is to provide technical and engineering focus to the Process Development Groups (PDG) priorities locally and globally. Role also includes business case development for projects, performing engineering operations, managing best practice implementation projects, addressing gaps in best practice performance, monitoring key measures performance and addressing gaps, and assisting in justification of capital expenses and resource allocations. The role will also include development, analysis, interpretation, and utilization of data and information during project inception and execution.


Principal Accountabilities

15%  Perform engineering activities at respective location to address best practice gaps through process improvement and project execution.

15%  Function as a key representative to the PDG at respective location. Function as key point of contact for peers and PDG members at other locations.

15%  Maintain involvement with and understanding of breakthrough technologies. Assist and support R&D section in trials, and eventual implementation of concepts.

15%  Be location expert on equipment and systems. Identify and address methods to improve equipment/system efficiency, performance, and reliability.

20%  Understand key measure and CMO requirements and ensure they are adhered to and addressed during project execution. 20%

20%  Become the expert in a specific area, and ensure knowledge is transferred to other locations. Assist other locations in becoming best in class in this area.

Required 

BS degree in engineering or technical science discipline, Chemical Engineer preferred,  Minimum of 1 year engineering, operation, or production experience in a manufacturing enviornment. Demonstrated high level of technical ability and ability to understand complex operational, engineering, and business activities. Demonstrated ability to implement technical solutions and best practices locally, and throughout the organization. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and communicate goals, objectives, and accomplishments to a broad audience. Demonstrated ability to influence others and lead projects locally, regionally, and globally. Strong organization and time management skills. Demonstrated strong leadership skills and mentoring skills for other engineers.

 

Desired

3+ years of demonstrated high performance in operations/engineering field. Experience outside of PDG is a plus, such as operations, project engineering, and maintenance.

Competency in use of ASPEN, JMP, pinch analysis, and other analytical tools.

Demonstrated project management skills and ability to execute capital projects. Basic competencies in food safety, GMP, and MOC. Cargill was founded in 1865 out of a single grain facility in Iowa.
