Process Design Engineer

Dallas, TX

 

Barry-Wehmiller Design Group, Inc. is a leading Engineering Consulting Firm, providing technology solutions for the Consumer Products, Life Sciences, and other Industrial markets. We have an immediate need for an experienced Process Design Engineer in our Dallas office.

 

Education

B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is preferred but consideration will be given to other engineering degrees based on actual project experience.

 

Experience

Minimum 3 – 5 years of industrial project engineering experience involving process and related automation applications. Experience in the food or beverage, and high speed bottling environments is preferred.

 

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for process mechanical design, process equipment and installation specifications, vendor and contractor management, and knowledge of process electrical / control and instrumentation design integration, as well as installation and start-up support.

 

Requirements

This position requires a working knowledge of process flow diagrams, piping & instrument diagrams, mass & heat balances, basic piping system design, pump sizing, material handling methods, equipment, functional & installation specifications, as well as process instrumentation & control principles.  A practical understanding of sanitary design and construction methods is preferred.

 

This position requires strong analytical skills, basic understanding of project management fundamentals as well as strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, & AutoCAD).

 

Candidates need to possess effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. This position requires an individual who is a self-starter and can work with minimal supervision.

 

Travel Requirements

40 – 60 % travel will be required to support installation and start-up activities, attend Client meetings, Design Group management meetings, company sponsored training and industry related seminars, forums or conventions.  The vast majority of this travel will be in the West Coast marketplace.
