Job Description:

Principal Systems Engineer to perform system definition, concept design, and product design, development, and qualification for Airborne and Vehicular/Manpack VHF/UHF Department of Defense radios. This position is primarily technical analysis with external customer and lower tier supplier interface tasks.

Required Skills:

Knowledge and experience with DoD military waveform performance requirements and associated signal processing techniques is required. Candidate must be able to analyze and specify the performance of subsystem components in order to meet overall Radio system performance requirements. A total of 8 or more years engineering experience - including design and analysis of digital hardware and software components in support of RF communication system development - are required.

Candidate must have an in-depth understanding of communication theory and hardware implementation methods. He must be able to analyze and specify requirements for signal processing functions, including advanced digital modulation and encoding algorithms and techniques. Prior RF system and subsystem analysis experience is mandatory. Must be able to write and review component specifications and interface documents for elements of complex, highly integrated systems. Tasks will also include development of system integration and test plans, procedures, and reports.

The candidate will interact with system architects, technical analysts, RF and signal processing subject matter experts (SMEs), antenna SMEs, and hardware and software design engineers. The candidate will conduct trade studies and coordinate engineering specialists in their contributions to such trade studies. This position requires contributing to preparation and presentations of program technical reviews - both internal and external.

Domestic business travel via commercial carrier, rental auto, and associated temporary living is required. Travel and remote work may total up to approximately 10%.

Working knowledge of MicroSoft Office tools: WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, and Project are mandatory.

The candidate must be able to hold a security clearance of Secret level or higher.

Desired Skills:


Good written and oral communications skills are highly desired. This position requires weekly communications with all levels of technical specialists, project management, internal Raytheon non-Fort Wayne team members, and occasional reviews and meetings with Government customers.

Candidate must not be liable to ITAR data restrictions.

Earned Value Management (EVM) experience is valuable.

It is desired that the candidate have a current Secret security level, or have held such clearance within the past year.

Required Education(including Major):

BSEE or closely related technical degree is mandatory. MSEE or closely related technical degree is desirable.
