The successful applicant will join a team that is developing imaging agents for advanced in vitro and in vivo molecular imaging applications. These imaging agents incorporate novel nanoparticle technology, unique dyes, and active linking elements. The team is responsible for the research, advanced development and applications of the imaging agents. The primary customers today are medical researchers studying basic biochemical processes and developing new drugs.

This position will focus on the design and synthesis of polymer nanoparticles that meet the complex requirements of in vivo imaging agents. This individual will also interface closely with Applications Scientists and customers.

Requirements:
· PhD in Polymer Chemistry with a minimum of 3 years experience
· Proficient in the design, synthesis and characterization of monomers and polymers.
· Expertise in aqueous co-polymerization techniques
· Experienced in nanoparticle characterization (size, molecular weight, surface charge, etc.)
· Proficient in NMR, UV, FT-IR, GPC, TGA, DSC, etc.
· Expertise in designing complex experiments and interpreting the data
· Excellent understanding of structure-property relationships (interactions between polymer structures and polymer performance)
· Experienced in fluorescence and the characterization of fluorophores
· Solid understanding of fluorescent dye quenching mechanisms
· Capable of performing technical reviews, reports and publications
