Plant Supervisor – Wisconsin Rapids, WI – Alum Works Facility

GenTek Inc is a technology-driven manufacturer of performance chemicals and industrial components. We are currently seeking a talented individual for the position of Plant Supervisor located in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, for its Performance Products Chemicals Division of General Chemical, LLC. This position will be working specifically for the Water Treatment Chemicals Business Unit at our Wisconsin Rapids Alum Works facility. In this role you will be responsible for supervising all aspects of manufacturing water treatment chemicals at the plant level along with executing management plans and achieving goals consistent with manufacturing products at the lowest possible cost consistent with safety and quality requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Directly responsible for all operational aspects of the Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, alum production facility. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Supervise hourly staff responsible for the manufacture of water treatment products.

· Evaluate employee performance and provide training when appropriate.

· Prepare and monitor operative conditions and manufacturing schedules.

· Plan and schedule maintenance of plant equipment; troubleshoot problems and initiate repairs when necessary.

· Insure that all plant activities and manufacturing is conducted in accordance with all health, safety and environmental rules and that all quality specifications are adhered to.

· Prepare and monitor plant budgets and prepares reports as directed by management.

· Manage and control plant costs, efficiency and productivity to maximize profitability.

· Recommend and prepare requests for capital expenditures and implement approved projects.

· Operate and supervise the operation of plant equipment including, but not limited to loaders, conveyors, pumps, mixers, etc., as required to ensure that productivity goals of the plant are achieved.

· Plan local purchases of materials and obtains vendor quotes to obtain most cost-effective alternative.

· Administer Human Resources policies in compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws and regulations.

· Coordinate the shipping of finished product to customers.

· Plan the purchases of raw manufacturing materials to ensure sufficient inventories are on hand in support of the production schedule.

· Operate SAP computer system to monitor customer requirements.

· Maintain positive customer and community relations.

· Insure all plant activities are conducted within Company guidelines.

· Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

Position Requirements

High School diploma and minimum (5) five years of plant experience or four-year degree (B.S. degree in Engineering) preferred. Minimum (2) two years prior supervisory experience.

Individual must be computer literate (Word, Excel, etc.) and posses basic math skills along with strong mechanical reasoning skills. In addition to excellent and effective oral and written communication skills, the individual must demonstrate strong leadership ability. Must possess a working knowledge of chemical batch processing, bulk powder handling, liquid storage and transfer technologies, and ISO9000 quality systems. Must also be able to demonstrate the ability to apply good judgment in response to potential “shut down” conditions and in executing effective quick fixes and formulating long-term effective corrective actions.

This is an operation providing water treatment products to municipalities and industrial consumers. There are hazardous chemicals on-site. The Plant Supervisor has a 24 hour/365 day a year “on-call” responsibility to ensure operational readiness of the plant.

No relocation currently available for this position. Successful candidate will possess authorization to work in the United States, and show proper documentation within three (3) days of date of hire.
