Department Description: Global Software and Licensing Services (GSLS) provides the final step in configuration management, replication and distribution of software products to labs and end customers worldwide. We also provide critical services to products that span business units, in the way of product licensing, order fulfillment, and multiple distribution methods. We are based in Arlington Heights, IL, with distribution centers in Schaumburg, IL and Beijing, China.

Responsibilities/Expectations: Development responsibilities will involve all phases of the software development process: documentation and refinement of requirements; high level design documentation; low level design (data modeling, database schema design, and prototyping); coding; code inspection; unit test; test plan development, and implementation. This includes involvement varying from a single phase or task on a team project to full life cycle responsibilities for an entire project. Candidate must be flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities to meet business needs and schedules.
Primary responsibility will be to work with teams that are currently using or desire to use services provided by Global Software and Licensing Services. This will require detailed analysis of the external team’s tool requirements, clear requirements definition and negotiation, detailed project plans, tool development, testing, user training, and implementation. Projects may include new hardware identification, conversions of data sources, and new or modified software tools.
The position will also require the candidate to create requirement documents, test plans, and test plan execution for modifications to systems that support GSLS users and GSLS internal workflows.
Additionally, the position requires the candidate to maintain systems/tools developed as well as become familiar with other tools/processes within the group so as to provide support cross functionally. This includes a rotating on call duty.^^

Knowledge Skills: BS or MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Computer Information Systems or equivalent is preferred
3+ years experience in web application development (preferably ColdFusion and/or Perl) is strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle Processes and experienced in full lifecycle skills (Design, Development, Testing, Implementation).
Oracle and MySQL knowledge a plus
Understanding of e-commerce and database management systems
Web application programming experience as follows:
1-3 years experience with ColdFusion highly preferred
1-3 years experience with JavaScript required
Strong Perl experience highly preferred
Familiarity with web services and AJAX

Competency in Oracle database schema design and SQL required
Working knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows Based Environments
System test experience; test plan creation and execution
Very strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with a diverse group effectively
Ability to work toward agreed upon goals, with a minimum amount of direction
Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and come up to speed quickly to make subject matter expert contributions for a wide range of projects
Ability to envision and implement new and improved processes
Ability to quickly build new relationships

Basic Qualifications: 2 + years of software engineering experience
Bachelors Degree
