 Partner Development Coordinator

The South Carolina Department of Commerce, located in Columbia, SC, is the state's lead agency to promote economic development and enhance the business climate. In 2007, the Department of Commerce broke all existing records by recruiting over four billion dollars in capital investment and creating more than 16,000 new jobs.

 

 

We are currently recruiting for an experienced professional to join our Division of Workforce Development. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a highly motivated individual who wants to make a direct impact in the lives of the citizens of South Carolina.   

 

Under limited supervision coordinates work with workforce development partners, Employment Security Commission, DSS, Vocational Rehabilitation, DJJ, DOE, State Tech College System, Commission on Higher Education, and businesses to establish common goals and maximize workforce development resources and coordinates statewide and local efforts to re-engage individuals in the workforce.  Work with local communities, including faith based and community based organizations, civic clubs, businesses and Local Workforce Investment Areas to identify best practices/promising practices.  Develop, disseminate, materials on the best practices and train local areas as necessary.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: **A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public policy, social work, or related field and five (5) years experience in program management.  Ability to understand and interpret federal and state legislation.  Ability to develop and “sell” creative solutions to difficult, long-standing problems.  Must have the ability to work in diverse settings with all types of people and proven ability to motivate and mobilize individuals to action.   Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, think critically and analytically, and make effective group presentations.  Ability to successfully negotiate.  Statewide travel required.  Must be proficient in the use of computers and various Microsoft programs.

**Candidates MUST specifically meet these required qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and experience to be considered for this position.

 

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:  A Master’s degree and experience working with workforce development/economic development.
