Description: THIS POSITION REQUIRES RESIDENCY IN MISSOURI AND MISSOURI CERTIFICATION TO TEACH MANDARIN CHINESE AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL.

The purpose of this job is to implement appropriate teaching strategies that assist each student in achieving their academic potential while also providing superior customer service to all internal and external customers of the virtual school.

Typical activities include
- Implement curriculum as prescribed by KVE using activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Provide a positive, nurturing environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
- Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the need of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
- Guide the delivery of special education services to students to ensure that the subject-area department is in compliance with state and federal laws (i.e., IEP plans).
- Respond promptly (within two hours) when returning telephone calls and replying to correspondence, emails, instant messages, and faxes.
- Initiate one high-touch communication (phone, email, IM) with each student on a weekly basis.
- One of the four monthly contacts must be teacher-initiated via phone.
- Update daily your external greeting so that students, parents, and others can be made aware of your availability.
- Designate Virtual Office hours and post on course announcement page(s). During office hours, all online instructors must be online to respond to phone calls, IMs and email.
- Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
- Maintain effective and efficient records.
- Review contemporary educational literature to remain current with information related to job responsibility.
- Communicate with stakeholders in a courteous, timely and professional manner.
- Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
- Act and behave in a professional manner to reflect a positive image of the school.
- Meet established deadlines. Qualifications: THIS POSITION REQUIRES RESIDENCY IN MISSOURI AND MISSOURI CERTIFICATION TO TEACH MANDARIN CHINESE AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL.

Experience Required:
- Bachelors Degree in your subject area required. Masters preferred
- MISSOURI State certification in the subject area at the appropriate grade level
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Outlook
- High comfort level in working on a computer and using the Internet
- Experience teaching in an online environment or enrollment in an online undergraduate course is preferred, but not required.
