Description: 

Extremely busy, small, growing plaintiff's personal injury law firm seeks highly energetic and motivated individual with a strong ability to multi-task and follow up. This is an excellent opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a fast growing law firm. A willingness to do other tasks, e.g., no "this is not my job" attitude is important (this is a small firm).
Job Purpose:
Saves attorney's time by researching, obtaining, compiling, and preparing information and documents

Duties:

-Connecticut litigation experience including familiarity with pleadings and discovery is required.
-Drafting pleadings and discovery.
-Maintenance of and responsibility for critical litigation dates.
-Meeting with clients to review and complete written discovery.
-Coordination and scheduling of depositions.
-Trial prep, Arbitration prep, pretrial prep, hearing prep. (e.g., trial notebooks, subpoenas, coordination of witnesses with attorneys).
-Some overtime is necessary.
* Compiles evidence and supporting information by searching records, discovery documents, transcripts, libraries, and databases; interviewing clients, third parties, and expert witnesses.

* Prepares legal documents for attorney's approval and use by identifying forms and formats; producing text; proofreading; maintaining document control system.

* Begins legal actions by arranging for notice and subpoena service.

* Oversees cases by managing files and documents; coordinating with support services and clients, opposing law firms, and courts; managing court docket calendar; expediting paper flow; maintaining schedules and deadlines; generating status reports, logs, and indexes; processing settlement papers and payments.

* Prepares for trial by preparing trial notebooks, exhibits, and witness files; obtaining jury list and background information; preparing questions for jury selection.

* Prepares witnesses by detailing background information; interviewing witnesses; preparing interview summaries and statements.

* Composes legal abstracts by summarizing deposition, arbitration, hearing, trial, and other transcripts.

* Maintains database by organizing document control; designing retrieval systems; summarizing, coding, and storing documents; updating system.

* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
