Description: This is a contract position for an indefinite period of time; estimated at two to three years. The project involves the Department of Justice Environmental and Natural Resources Division (ENRD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), The Army Corps of Engineers (ACE), and the US Attorneys Offices (USAO) in Tucson, AZ, San Diego, CA, and McAllen TX. The subject matter is the federal Secure Border Initiative (SBI). Candidates will work to prepare/file any number of temporary Rights of Entry (ROE) filings to initiate permanent takings cases for property required to build a border fence between Mexico and the U.S. In addition, studies must be conducted by the ACE before recommendations are made regarding the location of the fences. Location of work is U.S. Attorneys Office, Southern District of Texas, Bentsen Tower, 1701 West Business Highway 83, Suite 600, McAllen, TX 73341. Qualifications: *Must have an active clearance or be able to obtain a clearance.
*Experience with land acquisition, title work or real estate law.
*Proven excellent written and oral communication skills.
*Must be available for travel.
*Paralegal certificate.
*Must be able to deliver high quality work under extreme pressure.
*At least 2 years of litigation paralegal experience.
*Thorough knowledge of legal research tools (such as lexis Nexis, Westlaw, Concordance or Summation). Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience A Total Value package.
