Job Summary

2ND SHIFT POSITION -- HOURS ARE MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY 4:00 PM TO 2:30AM. THIS POSITION IS BASED AT THE NEWARK, DE SUPPLY SITE.

The Packaging Maintenance Mechanic I position is responsible for multi-craft maintenance activities required to ensure production and/or facility equipment operates efficiently and in compliance with FDA requirements. As a multi-craft mechanic, the incumbent must:
· Demonstrate ability to perform equipment set-up/change-over, preventative maintenance, troubleshoot equipment problems, and complete machine repairs (including modification/fabrication of parts)
· Possess ability to meet site electrical and calibration qualifications
· Demonstrate good interpersonal skills communicating with Operators and Operations/Maintenance Supervision when performing equipment preventative maintenance, repairs or discussing options to minimize equipment downtime
· Perform responsibilities ensuring compliance with Newark Site standards, policies and SOPs, as well as performing job responsibilities in compliance with AstraZeneca Safety, Health & Environment standards. To include: following Site change control procedures, completing all required GMP and safety permits, and ensuring required logbook entries are made.
· Work with Supervision and other Mechanics to identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment/production efficiencies. Support new equipment start-up and quickly learns new systems, equipment and procedures.
· Be flexible in responding to multiple equipment/production problems or changes to assignments
· Work in a team environment, with other mechanics, operators, supervision and project management with goal of achieving Newark Site customer service goals and participating on project teams
· Work other shifts and weekends when production and/or equipment maintenance coverage is needed

Responsibilities

· High School Diploma with 8+ years as an industrial maintenance mechanic in a production environment
· Completion of a state accredited Journeyman or technical school program, or equivalent formal education and field experience, demonstrating commensurate proficiency in mechanical and electrical maintenance of packaging production equipment, including instrumentation and controls
· Good interpersonal, communication and writing skills

Preferred Requirements:
· AAS in an Engineering Technology
· Understanding and operational familiarity with PC/PLC control systems
· Experience maintaining and repairing high-speed pharmaceutical packaging equipment, including thermoformers, cartoners, bottle fillers and case packers
· Pharmaceutical/cGMP maintenance training and experience
