Organic Synthesis Chemist

 

Tyco Safety Products is a Fortune 100 company.  ANSUL, a division of Tyco Safety Products, is headquartered in Marinette, Wisconsin and supplies a global network of approximately 1000 Ansul trained distributors, supported by 30+ field sales offices. 

 

ANSUL/Tyco Safety Products, which provides electronic security systems, fire protection, detection, suppression systems and fire extinguishers to an international market is currently searching for an Organic Synthesis Chemist to be located in Marinette, Wisconsin.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

In this role you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on the development of new fire fighting agents at our research and testing site.

 

·        Perform synthesis chemistry aimed at preparing new fire suppression agents.

·        Test & evaluate fire suppression agents.

·        Understand, develop, support and operate data acquisition or lab instrumentation systems for testing.

·        Work closely with development Chemists or Chemical Engineers in project work.

·        Follow and practice strict safety and housekeeping practices.

·        Maintain the operation of synthesis lab.

 

Job Requirements:

 

·        PhD/MS degree in organic chemistry or related technical discipline.

 

·        Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated success/experience in the synthesis and characterization of new molecules. 

 

·        Proficiency with analytical techniques (UV, FTIR, GC-MS, NMR) is needed as well as willingness to learn new test methods specific to the fire fighting industry. 

 

·        Familiarity with methods used to search chemical literature and patent data bases, and the ability to work within a team of chemist and non-chemists are all needed skills.

 

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
