Position Description:
Provides technical leadership to systems project teams responsible for maintaining software products, configuring computer hardware, resolving availability problems, protecting data resources, and conducting feasibility studies in any area of Systems Operations. Provides consultation to Information Services management, professionals, and clients regarding complex technology issues, directions, or problems.

Position Requirements:
Responsible for providing day-to-day support and maintenance for key Oracle databases
Responsible for investigating potential problems and issues raised by customers both business users and internal IT; this includes being on a on-call rotation and carrying a pager/phone as needed
Monitor database events and proactively optimize system performance
Work with the team to automate reactive procedures where possible, and to promote rapid response to known issues
Work with other teams to promote changes to production and other environments
Accountable for maintaining database configurations in compliance with established best practices
Accountable for proper backup and disaster recovery procedures
Work in conjunction with other IT, application development, and business groups to understand functionality, scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements from the database perspective
Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the database architecture and the general application functionality used to maintain data integrity
Work with various application environments; Siebel, FileNet, .Net, Gensys, and Tivoli.
