OnSpeX is a leading provider of consumer product testing services for products sold in the U.S. and Canada.  We are currently seeking a Technician to work in our consumer product evaluation group located in Alpharetta, Georgia.

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

This position reports to the OnSpeX's Atlanta Office Technical Manager.

The technician will set up and conduct experimental programs and accurately obtain and record data.  Other duties include, fabricating experimental apparatus and performing R&D assignments that are not standardized or prescribed.  Also, may make minor modifications to experimental set-ups, troubleshoot and correct equipment malfunctions as necessary and provide oral and written status reports.  The technician will provide ongoing feedback to the Technical Manager regarding suggested modifications to experimental apparatus and/or equipment being developed. Generally works with minimal supervision.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:           

 

Selects and/or modifies experimental equipment and procedures, and executes programs in compliance with project objectives.

 

Records and compiles data, tabulates or computes data using appropriate formulas or procedures.  Performs analysis of data to verify accuracy and reasonableness.

 

Maintains accurate, orderly and complete records.

 

Provides written and oral status reports as required.

 

Maintains tools, instruments and other laboratory equipment in good working condition.  Notifies Manager when equipment needs repair.    

 

Makes field trips and assists in work outside the laboratories as required.

 

Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor. 

 



          Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering,  Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology or related technical or non-technical field, such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, or the equivalent in relevant practical experience; or

Non-degree with 5-7 years proven competency in a technical capacity with CSA or equivalent practical experience.

 

Must be able to read, interpret and develop engineering drawings for fabrication and assembly of sheet metal and steel components.

 

Must have good mechanical skills and a knowledge of electricity, mathematics and fluid systems.

 

Must have a working knowledge of laboratory procedures, basic instrumentation and their application.

 

Team-oriented with good interpersonal skills.

 

Good communication skills and proven ability to work with minimum supervision.

 

Must be willing to travel as needed.
