We are looking for a strong nursing supervisor who is interested in growing with our team. Strong supervisor experience required. Pediatric experience preferred.



Set on a beautiful 300-acre campus north of Wilmington, Delaware, the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children has 180 inpatient beds and offers all the major specialties of pediatric medicine, surgery and dentistry. The duPont Hospital is operated by Nemours, which provides institutions and services to improve the health of children. Employing over 400 pediatric physicians, subspecialists and surgeons, Nemours cared for approximately a quarter of a million children during nearly one million encounters in 2005, making Nemours one of the nation's largest children's health systems.

PRIMARY FUNCTION



A registered nurse with clinical and shift management responsibilities for all areas during her/his tour of duty.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES



1. Demonstrates continual growth in clinical proficiency.



2. Shares clinical expertise with staff and provides direction for staff in exercising clinical skills.



3. Demonstrates management skills effectively and universally when dealing with staff on a shift.



4. Guides clinical practice by adhering to the Nurse Practice Act.



5. Initiates cost-effective and appropriate quality care by:



a. Reviewing and adjusting unit assignment of staff in collaboration with Nurse Managers/Charge Nurses to insure adequate coverage of all patient care units.



b. Identifies problems on a shift and initiates actions to correct the problem.



c. Communicates problem areas to Chief Nurse Executive/designee.



6. Interprets and role models Hospital and Department philosophies, policies, and objectives.



7. Provides Clinical management coverage for all patient care units.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS



A. Education, Training, and Experience



1. Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor's degree required.

2. Minimum of three years' experience as a staff nurse; management experience preferred.



B. Licensure



1. Current registration with Delaware State Board of Nursing.
