Nursing Critical Care Unit – Clinical RN or GN with permit


Working closely with patients, families, and the healthcare team, this position will function as a staff nurse under the guidance and supervision of an experienced RN; perform routine patient care assessments and carry our established nursing procedures; assess patient status systematically to anticipate and respond to changes in clinical condition; collect pertinent patient and family data; anticipate patient care problems and make interventions based on an understanding of the physiological and psychosocial processes and follow-up action with assigned acuity levels; delegate appropriate tasks to LVNs, GVNs, and non-licensed personnel of the unit; effective interpersonal and communication skills; and ability to develop, participate, and achieve individual, unit, departmental, and organizational goals. Must be able to perform heavy lifting; sustained standing and walking; work under stress, work varied shifts.

Requires
Current Texas RN License or permit and BLS certification

The following must be obtained after hire:

·         Successful completion of hospital and nursing orientation within three months

·         Demonstrate Nursing Process elements, including: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation within three months

·         Complete the following competencies within three months, including unit orientation, unit safety, age-specific care, body substance isolation, medication administration, IV therapy, blood and blood component administration, participation in Code Blue, restraint training, and critical care components

·         ACLS within six months

·         IABP within one year

·         Critical Care Course within one year
