  Nurse Leader, Inpatient Speciality Medical, Medicine Product - North Chicago, IL    Job Details   Company: Veterans Affairs     Job ID: 1270318     Location: Kenosha, Racine, WI    Job Description   The Nursing Leader, In-patient Specialty Medicine represents a Product Line within the Patient Services Business Unit in a Managed Care Environment. The Nursing Leader is responsible for all operational aspects, participating in management discussions, planning, policy making, and sharing accordingly in the responsibilities of management actions in the Emergency Department, Critical Care Unit and Medical/Surgical Unit. He/She will function as an equal partner with both the Physician and Business Manager Leaders of the Medicine Product Line and be responsible for direct and/or indirect supervision and coordination of select personnel from the following allied health services: Social Work Service, Nursing, Recreation, Medical Administration Service and Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists. The Nursing Leader will coordinate service chiefs’ input in such areas as organizational and functional design, operational problem solving, program evaluation, systematic internal review, long and short range goal setting, planning, budget administration and coordination with other services. U.S. citizenship. Current unrestricted license as a professional registered nurse. Minimum of seven (7) years of successful nursing practice, five (5) years of which should be in nursing administration positions with progressively more responsible leadership assignments. MSN or BSN with Masters in related field. Must be a graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) at the time the program was completed by the applicant. Must meet physical standards of the position. Applicants must pass a pre-employment medical examination which includes the possibility of a drug screen. You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position. Both prior to and after appointment, all members are subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
