Job Description:
The certified registered nurse anesthetist is an advanced practice nurse (CRNA). Within this role, under the supervision of an Attending Anesthesiologist, the CRNA, administers, monitors and manages patient care before, during and after anesthesia.
Job Qualifications:
1.
Ability to read, write, understand and speak English in a clear and concise manner.
2.
Visual and aural acuity to assess patient status.
3.
Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
4.
Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems.
5.
Ability to organize information and teach others.
6.
Analytic ability to collect and organize information, identifies problems and trends, and formulates and implements corrective plans or programs.
7.
Ability to coordinate, prioritized, and allocates resources.
8.
Oriented to consumer satisfaction.
9.
Physical stamina, dexterity and mental health necessary to coordinate a broad variety of services and programs for designated patient population on a daily basis.
10.
Demonstrate the following minimum requirements.
Qualifications
1.
Licensure as a RN in New York State
2.
Certification by the Council of Certification of Nurse Anesthetists required, or qualifying to sit for exam within 12 months of hire. Recertification bi-annually according to the standards of the Council on Recertification.
3.
Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing
4.
Masters Degree in Nursing with a specialization in nurse anesthesia preferred or a graduate of an accredited program in Nurse Anesthesia.
5.
Experience: Minimum of one year of nursing in an intensive care setting.
