Network Services Administrator

Reports to:  Director of Infrastructure, Information Technology

Location:     Brattleboro, VT

General Description: The Network Services Administrator is responsible for administration and management of all Windows based servers and network infrastructure of the institution. Specifically this includes administration of an Active Directory Domain, network management of a multi-protocol WAN, corporate mail, and web services.

Specific Responsibilities:

·        Responsible for all LAN/WAN infrastructure (connectivity, wiring, wireless, WAN circuits, remote access) at the Vermont and remote World Learning sites.

·        Manage and maintain all Windows/Linux servers (total count approx 35) and storage SAN, at all World Learning sites.  This also includes managing the VMWare ESX virtual environment.

·        Work with external vendor to support outsourced Microsoft Exchange 2007 implementation.

·        In charge of Internet and Network security, which includes management of Cisco ASA Firewall, Bandwidth Shaper, VPN connectivity, and Windows 2000 Active Directory.

·        Perform level 3 troubleshooting of network and desktop applications for both desktop support and educational technology groups.

·        Responsible for all data backup and recovery using Veritas Backup Exec software.

·        Must be a principle participant in coordination and implementation of infrastructure projects.

·        Make software and hardware recommendations to Infrastructure manager in response to business needs of the organization.

·        Create and maintain a disaster recovery plan for network and server infrastructure and integrate this plan into the disaster recovery plan of the larger institution.

·        Responsible for support of Odin POS system

·        Act as backup for Cisco Call Manager VoIP telephony system.

Required Qualifications:

·        BA in related field or equivalent experience

·        At least 3 years experience in a similar position.

·        High levels of competency in the following: Microsoft AD, Exchange 2007, Cisco Routers/Switches, Backup Exec, Symantec Corporate Edition, and Microsoft Office, remote access services.

·        Particular expertise supporting clients using Windows XP/Vista in a networked environment

·         Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.

·        Strong interpersonal skills, with great patience and clarity of communications.

·        A strong commitment to team approaches.

·        Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment, while prioritizing multiple projects.

Desired Qualifications:

·        MCSE or CCNA certification

·        Knowledge of Citrix remote access

This is a 50% on-call position
